Mechanical Services

The Bureau of Mechanical Services’ primary function is the acquisition, maintenance and repair of Department’s fleet. Our fleet consists of more than 2,000 units and includes heavy trucks, construction equipment, industrial equipment, passenger vehicles, light trucks and specialty vehicles. Our operations provide statewide coverage having seven locations with Concord serving as our headquarters. The Concord facility houses several specialty shops including the main stockroom, heavy & light fleet repair, welding and hydraulics, carpentry and electrical, machine shop, autobody repair, rigging & equipment recovery & transport as well as snow removal services. We are one of few Departments nationally that continue to assemble our own equipment, primarily plow trucks in-house. For operations outside of the Concord vicinity, the Bureau provides maintenance and repair services via our six satellite garages located in Lancaster, Enfield, Twin Mountain, Ossipee, North Hampton & Swanzey. These facilities provide many of the same services as our Concord location and work closely with headquarters to ensure vehicles and equipment are returned to service timely.
