Paving Operations to begin in Hooksett on Route 3 & Route 28 Bypass

Temporary lane closures and alternating one-way traffic.

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) will start daytime paving operations on Monday, May 6, 2024, in Hooksett and Allenstown on the northbound and southbound lanes of Route 3 from the Manchester/Hooksett town line to Route 28 in Allenstown.

Weather permitting, this work is scheduled to be done between the hours of 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM and will require the use of lane closures and alternating one-way traffic to perform the work. Message boards and smart work zone devices will be used to notify the traveling public.  This work is expected to take 6 - 8 weeks, however additional workdays may be required due to weather conditions.

Road users should remain alert while traveling through the construction zone and obey all posted signs.  Road users are also encouraged to sign up for free, real-time construction and traffic related messages (text or email) from https://newengland511.org/.

This is a Tier 2 preservation project, located in Maintenance District 5, along a section of US 3 and NH 28 Bypass in the Towns of Manchester, Hooksett, Allenstown, and Pembroke, totaling 10.3 miles. Pavement treatments include paver shim overlay, High Strength inlay, High Strength overlay and spot inlays. Additional work includes bringing beam guardrail and ADA ramps up to standards.

Continental Paving Inc. of Londonderry is the contractor for the $5.9 million project, which has a final completion date of September 2024.
