Seabrook-Hampton Combined Public Officials/Public Informational Meeting

NHDOT will discuss the Planned Replacement of the NH Route 1A Bridge over Hampton Harbor

Arrangements have been made by the New Hampshire Department of Transportation to hold a Combined Public Officials/Public Informational Meeting for this project that has investigated the rehabilitation or replacement of the Neil R. Underwood Bridge (NHDOT Bridge No. 235/025) which carries NH 1A over the Hampton River at the inlet to Hampton Harbor. Built in 1949, this bascule bridge is a vital transportation link between Hampton Beach and Seabrook. The Department is proposing a fixed bridge alternative that will result in the removal of this bridge from the Department's Red List, improve pedestrian and cyclist mobility at the crossing, and accommodate the existing marine users. The proposed preferred alternative will adversely affect the National Historic Register eligible bridge.

The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, January 14, 2021 at 6:00pm. Due to the ongoing situation with COVID-19, the NHDOT will conduct the meeting virtually via Zoom. Presentation materials and the meeting link will be located on the NHDOT website.

To attend the Zoom Meeting from a PC, Mac, iPad, iPhone or an Android device please go to https://zoom.us/j/97906483811?pwd=U09EeEgwS1U1TEpiV2xQYkRaZ1d0Zz09. To join the Zoom Meeting by telephone, dial 1-646-558-8656 (New York) and enter the Meeting ID:  979 0648 3811, Passcode: 405670.

The purpose of this meeting is to present citizens and public officials with information regarding the proposed project and to solicit public input to ensure that project decisions meet public transportation needs and community goals, and protect and enhance the environment. Accordingly, NHDOT assures that this project will be administered according to the requirements of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and all related statutes to ensure nondiscrimination.
