Environmental Justice Program
NHDOT is committed to ensuring a fast, safe, efficient, accessible, and convenient transportation system for communities across the state by incorporating Environmental Justice considerations into all of it's programs, policies, and activities.
Environmental Justice (EJ) is the fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people, regardless of race, ethnicity, income, national origin, or educational level with respect to the development, implementation and enforcement of environmental laws, regulations, and policies.
Effective transportation decision making includes understanding and properly addressing the unique needs of diverse socio-economic groups and the implementation of non-discriminatory environmental justice principles improves all levels of transportation-related decision making.
