Bridge Work on Route 101 in Peterborough

Traffic will be shifted and temporary road closures will be required on Thursday, November 17, 2022.

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) announces the start of the next phase of work on the bridge that carries NH Route 101 and NH Route 202 over the Contoocook River in Peterborough, NH.

Weather permitting, traffic is scheduled to be shifted onto the newly constructed portion of the bridge and roadway on Thursday, November 17, 2022. Phase 2 reconstruction of the remaining bridge and roadway will then continue through the winter. The exclusive left hand turn lane from NH Route 101 eastbound to NH Route 202 northbound/Granite Street will remain closed in order to maintain two-way traffic over the bridge. In the event of inclement weather, the work will be performed on Friday, November 18, 2022.

The pavement marking and traffic signal work to be completed during the traffic shift is expected to cause delays during work hours. Motorists should allow for extra travel time or consider alternate routes.

Portable message boards will be utilized to alert motorists of the date the traffic shift will be performed. Motorists should remain alert while traveling through the construction zone and obey all posted signs.

E.D. Swett of Concord, NH is the prime contractor for this $8.5 million bridge replacement project, which is scheduled to be completed in October, 2023.
