Concrete Bridge Deck Placement on the Southbound I-89 Bridge over the Connecticut River in Lebanon
Road users will be detoured during the daytime for three days
The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) will begin construction on I-89 southbound over the Connecticut river on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, Thursday, November 21, 2024, and Tuesday, November 26, 2024, to place concrete on the southbound bridge deck. This work will close the right lane on I-89 in Lebanon, NH and Hartford, VT. During the lane closures the I-91 northbound exit 10A ramp will be closed. A detour utilizing message boards and temporary construction signs will be put in place to direct the traveling public to use I-91 northbound Exit 12 to reverse directions to I-91 southbound where they can use the Exit 10A southbound off-ramp to I-89 southbound.
Construction will start 5:00am and is anticipated to last until 4:00pm each day. Once construction is complete each day the lane closure will be removed and the ramp reopened. Road users may experience delays on I-89 and I-91 southbound from the I-91 to I-89 southbound interchange to Exit 20 in New Hampshire.
This work is weather dependent and may be rescheduled if necessary.
Road users should remain alert while traveling through the construction zone and obey all posted signs. Road users are also encouraged to sign up for free, real-time construction and traffic related messages (text or email) from https://newengland511.org/.
R.S. Audley of Bow, NH is the prime contractor for this $43 million dollar project which is scheduled to be completed in September 2026.
