Construction Work on Route 4 Off Ramp in Durham

Daytime work will temporarily close the Route 4 westbound off ramp at Route 108 for three days

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) will temporarily close the US Route 4 Westbound Off Ramp at NH Route 108 in Durham, for three days beginning Monday June 28, 2021, to facilitate rock excavation along the ramp.

Work will include removing loose stone from the rock face with a large excavator and hauling it away to be crushed into usable aggregate. Adverse weather conditions would delay this work.

The daily closing of the US 4 Westbound Off Ramp at NH 108 will be between the hours of 9:00 am and 2:30 pm. All traffic will be detoured to the US 4 Westbound Exit at NH 155A, where motorists can reverse directions onto US 4 Eastbound. Motorists will then take the US 4 Eastbound Off Ramp at NH 108, ending the detour. Signs, message boards, and a uniformed officer will be used to direct motorists through the work zone.

The public is reminded that Madbury Road should be used for local traffic only, and no commercial vehicles over 24,000 pounds gross weight or GVWR are allowed on this road per the Town of Durham.

The proposed work is part of the Durham 16254 project.  S.U.R. Construction is the prime contractor of the $760,000 project which is scheduled to be completed in October 2021.
