Daytime Road Work on Route 28 in Alton-Barnstead
Temporary lane closures will impact traffic for two days.
The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) will begin daytime road work, weather permitting, on Thursday, April 25, and Friday, April 26, 2024 on NH Route 28, northbound and southbound, approximately 1300 feet north of Hamwoods Road in Alton to Kent Lane in Barnstead.
This work is scheduled to be done between the hours of 6:00 am and 6:00 pm and will require the use of temporary lane closures. Motorists will utilize one lane of alternating traffic to move through the temporary work zone. Message boards, flaggers, traffic control devices, and smart work zone devices will be used to notify the traveling public.

This work is part of the Statewide Tier 2 Paving contract in the Lakes Region (Alton, Gilford, Meredith-Center Harbor, Sandwich-Tamworth and Barnstead), which includes paving sections along NH Route 25 in Meredith-Center Harbor, NH Route 11 in Gilford, NH Route 11 in Alton and Sandwich-Tamworth on NH Route 25.
Pike Industries of Belmont, New Hampshire is the general contractor for the $9.7 million project, which is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2025.
