Nighttime Work on the Spaulding Turnpike in Rochester
Temporary lane closures and rolling roadblocks will impact travel for a short period.
The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) will perform nighttime construction work on the Spaulding Turnpike (NH Route 16) in Rochester to complete the erection of a new tolling gantry structure.
On Wednesday night, May 3, 2023 between the hours of 6 pm and 12 am, construction crews will erect a new tolling gantry structure across both northbound and southbound barrels near the existing Rochester Toll Plaza. Lane closures and rolling roadblocks with uniformed police officers will be utilized to control traffic during these operations. The rolling roadblock is expected to take 5-10 minutes and is anticipated to occur around 8:30 pm. Motorists should exercise caution when driving through the construction zone.
The work is weather dependent and is expected to be completed in one night.
The work is part of the Dover-Rochester 29440 project. RS Audley of Bow, New Hampshire is the prime contractor for the $23 million project, which is scheduled to be completed in June, 2024.
