Public Hearing for Jefferson-Randolph Project 13602C
The hearing will discuss the proposal to reconstruct and widen a portion of US Route 2 to add shoulders and improve geometrics to improve the corridor’s safety.
Pursuant to NH RSA 230:45 and Public Law 100-17 (Surface Transportation and Uniform Relocation Assistance Act of 1987), a public hearing has been set to discuss the proposal to reconstruct and widen a portion of US Route 2 to add shoulders and improve geometrics to improve the corridor’s safety.
The project begins 500 feet east of the intersection with Black Velvet Road in Jefferson and continues easterly 2.3 miles to 900 feet west of the intersection with Valley Road in Randolph. This project may impact historical properties.

On March 22, 2023, the Governor and Executive Council approved the petition of the NH Department of Transportation to convene a public hearing to determine whether there is an occasion for the laying out of this project and acquiring necessary rights-of-way. A Special Committee was appointed to conduct the hearing and its members are Executive Councilor Joseph Kenney, Norman Brown, and Edith Tucker.
Maps, plans, environmental studies, and other pertinent information developed for the Department, along with written reports received because of the coordination with other agencies, are available at the Department of Transportation at the John O. Morton Building, 7 Hazen Drive, Concord, New Hampshire for inspection and copying. Please call Mike Mozer, Project Manager, at (603) 271-2297 in advance for an appointment.
Written statements and other exhibits may be submitted to the Chairman of the Committee, c/o William Oldenburg, Director of Project Development, NH Department of Transportation, PO Box 483, Concord, NH 03302-0483 up to October 16, 2023, after the date of the hearing for inclusion in the official record.
