Temporary Daytime Closure of Route 12A Bridge in Claremont
Road users will be detoured during the day for three to four days.
The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) is continuing the rehabilitation work and will fully close the Route 12A bridge over the Sugar River in Claremont, during the day, for at least three days.
Beginning on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, the bridge will be fully closed to traffic for the installation of new structural steel girders in the northbound lane (Phase 2 construction). A detour will be in place for three days from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. The work may also require closing the bridge on Friday, August 16, 2024. A signed detour will direct road users around the closure.
Message boards will be used to notify road users as the work progresses and everyone should remain alert while traveling through the work zone and obey all posted signs. Travelers are also encouraged to sign up for free, real-time construction and traffic related messages (text or email) from https://newengland511.org/.
This project will replace the superstructure (structural steel plate girders and bridge deck), road work before and after the bridge, substructure repairs, and the installation of scour countermeasures to protect piers and abutments.
Evroks Corporation of Tilton, NH is the contractor for the $5.7 M project that has a completion date of September 19, 2025.
