Tuftonboro 44770 Public Informational Meeting

NHDOT will solicit community input on the proposed culvert replacement project on Route 109A.

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) will attend a scheduled selectboard meeting in Tuftonboro to present to public officials, abutters, and interested parties, information on the proposed replacement of the stone box culvert carrying Twentymile Brook under Route 109A in Tuftonboro.  The meeting will be held at the Tuftonboro Town Office, 240 Middle Road (Route 109A), on Monday, June 24, 2024 at 5 pm.

The purpose of this project is to replace the existing aged 3.5-foot wide by six-foot high stone box culvert.  Due to narrowness of the roadway and depth of culvert, and additional constraints, this is a challenging construction site.  This meeting will present project details and discuss the preferred traffic control during construction.

Citizens and public officials will have an opportunity to ask questions and share their thoughts regarding existing deficiencies to ensure that the project decisions meet public transportation needs and community goals and protect and enhance the environment.

An environmental review of the project’s potential impacts on natural and cultural resources is underway in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act.  This project may have an effect on cultural or historic resources that are potentially eligible for or listed on the National Register of Historic Places.  Individuals or organizations with a demonstrated interest in the potential impacts to historic resources have an opportunity to become Consulting Parties under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act.  Additional information will be provided at the meeting.

NHDOT programs and services are administered by the requirements of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and all applicable regulations to ensure nondiscrimination.
