Freight Plan
New Hampshire’s first Statewide Freight Plan approved by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).
The 1st NHDOT Statewide Freight Plan was approved by FHWA on February 11, 2019. The purpose of the plan was to advance national and state policy goals and objectives. The freight system includes the various transportation systems including highway, rail, airport, and marine (port and harbor terminals) in the state. The Plan completes the requirements of the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation Act (FAST Act) to access available freight program funding for infrastructure improvements. The Freight Plan was prepared with extensive input from the Statewide Freight Advisory Committee (SFAC), extensive public involvement opportunities, and interactions with key stakeholders. The Plan features various maps, graphics, and tables to enhance understanding of the supply chain and complex freight-related topics. The NHDOT would like to thank all who participated by attending the various meetings, those who responded to the online survey, and others who inquired with questions throughout the process. As with any plan, it is a living document with valuable information and serves as a foundation for understanding freight movement in an ever-changing global economy.
